Creating Triggers
The system allows us to configure triggers based on:
- Event Pattern: Triggers when a user activity follows a certain pattern over some time.
- Single Event: Triggers as soon as a customer is online for a new session, or you can select a specific activity to watch.
- Location: Triggers as soon as a customer enters a configured location.
To create a trigger, follow the steps given below:
- Log in to the Session AI platform.
- In the Experiences menu, click the Triggers tab.
The list of all the Smart Triggers is displayed. - Click the Create New located at the top left corner.
Select a Trigger Type pops up.
You can define a trigger based on a specific activity performed by a user, an activity pattern performed over a period of time by a user, an anomaly found in a user activity pattern, etc.
Example 1: Activity Matches a Single Event
Note: In the below example, we select the Single Event option.
- Click Single Event.
The settings to create a new trigger appears.
- In the Single-Event Trigger text box, enter the trigger name.
- In the Description text box, enter the description for the trigger.
- From the Triggering Event drop-down list, select the desired event for the trigger.
- Fire once per session: Switch on the toggle to fire the trigger only once per session.
- In Additional Criteria (optional).
- Set the event parameter and select the Attribute, Operator, and Value for the trigger.
- Then click Save.
The trigger is saved successfully.
Example 2: Activity Matches an Event Pattern
Allows you to track when the user activity occurrence falls in a pattern over a period of time and fires the trigger.
In the below example, you will select the Event Pattern option.
- Click Event Pattern.
The settings to create a new trigger appears.
- In the Event Pattern Trigger text box, enter the trigger name.
- In the Description text box, enter the description for the trigger.
- In Pattern count: Enter the number of pattern count.
- In Time window to observe the pattern: Enter the time in seconds, minutes, hours, or days.
- Fire only once per session: Switch on the toggle to fire the trigger only once per session.
- To add a pattern for the event activities follow the steps:
- In Event drop-down select the appropriate activity. Select the desired occurrence from Occurs drop-down list. Then set the number of Time a user performs that activity.
- Click Add New Event to add one or more criteria.
Note: Curly arrow indicates that User may or may not have performed that activity
- To make the specific activity should be performed by the user, switch on the Must follow directly toggle and enable the pattern.
- After performing all the activities, click Save to save the trigger.
